The event is expected to draw the participation of six delegations of law enforcement forces of six countries, which are National Committee for Maritime Security (NCMS) of Cambodia, Coast Guard Department of China, Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the Coast Guard of the Philippines, and Thailand Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center (Thai-MECC).

As planned, the exchange program will include foreign missions’ courtesy calls on the Vietnamese Defense Minister, bilateral meetings between the Vietnamese Coast Guard and delegations and between participants, a banquet hosted by the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, an exchange, and a seminar under the theme “Vietnam Coast Guard and friends.”

In addition, participating coast guard forces will attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition and tour the capital city of Vietnam.

At the recent meeting to prepare for the program, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command asked its affiliated agencies and units to thoroughly grasp the purpose and meaning of the exchange, be fully aware of their assigned missions, heighten their responsibilities and strengthen coordination to make thorough preparations for the event.

The “Vietnam Coast Guard and friends” exchange program is hosted to enhance mutual understanding and trust and create a high consensus in coordination in performing tasks between the Vietnam Coast Guard and maritime law enforcement forces of other countries in the region, especially neighboring countries and those with adjacent waters, with the goal of building security and safety and clean environment at sea.

The event will also be a foundation for the Vietnam coast guard force to implement external and international cooperation activities in the coming years.
