Vietnam handovers the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ACMM to Brunei
PANO - A conference of the Board of Directors of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) was virtually held on December 17 under the chair of Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Military Medical Department of the General Department of Logistics and Chairman of Board of Directors of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM).
At the event, delegates agreed on an operation roadmap for the 2021-2024 period of the ACMM, including the continuation of developing and completing standard procedures for recruiting personnel for the ASEAN Health Assessment Group, instructions for liaison officers of the ASEAN Military Medical Center, development of standard maritime security procedures, and participation in the UN peacekeeping missions.
In the coming time, the Board of Directors of the ACMM will focus on exchanging expertise and experiences in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, with priority given to issues relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 10th and 11th Liaison Officers Meetings and the Board of Directors of the ACMM's conferences are expected to be held in 2021.
A ceremony to hand over the position of Chairman of the ACMM between Vietnam and Brunei was also held during the event.
Speaking at the conference, Gen. Kien affirmed that cooperation in military medicine among ASEAN countries will further work towards the goal of "one ASEAN - one military medical force".
