This is the second time the Vietnamese military medical force has joined the congress since it became the official member of the ICMM.

The ICMM World Congress on Military Medicine is considered the largest forum on military medicine with the participation of delegations from 117 member countries and six observers.

Entitled “Medicine on the move,” this year’s edition focuses on military medical ethics and laws; cutting edge medicine and leadership in military medicine as well as military medicine against chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear weapons, antiterrorism, and civil-military medicine cooperation.

The participants are expected to discuss and share their knowledge and experiences of the above agendas.

Under the congress’s framework, the Vietnamese delegation met with the ICMM to introduce achievements of the Vietnamese military medical force in providing healthcare for troops and people as well as to discuss cooperation potentials.

In addition, the participating Vietnamese military doctors held bilateral talks with missions from the UK, France, India, and Switzerland to share experience of deploying a level-two field hospital and preparing for a military medical force (level-one field hospital) in preparation for the deployment of Vietnamese engineers to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and to seek cooperation opportunities to develop the Vietnamese military medical sector.
