At the event

According to the report, Southeast Asia has now identified seven countries with people infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). To control the spread of the epidemic, the countries in the region are required to have close coordination, especially between the military medical forces.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Kien outlined the contents of the joint statement on defense cooperation in epidemic response, issued on February 19 by the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Retreat (ADMM Retreat).

He also stated that it is necessary to hold a joint disease preventing drill among the ASEAN military medical forces to strengthen the cooperation in exchanging information, provide professional training, and to work closely with relevant agencies in the ASEAN community to respond to the Covid-19 epidemic.
