Gen. Chien speaks at the meeting.

As scheduled, in March, the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard will visit Thailand and Malaysia, during which they will work with the hosts’ maritime enforcement forces to boost their coordination in preventing IUU fishing. The activity was an initiative of the Vietnam Coast Guard force in order to strengthen international cooperation in anti-IUU fishing and deepen the ties between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the maritime enforcement forces of Thailand and Malaysia.

At the meeting, Gen. Kien informed that the European Commission (E.C.) will inspect Vietnam’s observance of anti-IUU fishing regulations in May this year. Therefore, the working visit of the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation this time confirms the force’s efforts in having the E.C.’s removal of “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood.
