Vietnam-China Coast Guard forces boost cooperation in law enforcement at sea
PANO - On December 16 in Hanoi, the 8th Vietnam - China Coast Guard Work Meeting was held, aiming to boost cooperation in law enforcement in the region between the two forces.
Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, and Major General Yu Zhong co-chaired the event.
This was the first activity in a series of activities of the second “Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends” exchange program in 2024.
At the conference, both sides agreed that 2024 marks a success in cooperation between the two forces. In addition to agreed cooperation contents, they also successfully conducted other activities, such as exchange on Party and political work, and joint exercise in the fight against all kinds of crime at sea, among others.

In 2025, both sides would like to boost cooperation in other activities, such as informing each other about illegal fishing activities of trawlers in the Gulf of Tonkin; boosting information sharing related to law enforcement at sea; handling arising issues at sea, to name but a few. The Chinese Coast Guard is scheduled to visit Vietnam after concluding the joint patrol in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin demarcation line for the first time. They also agreed to organize the 2nd exchange on Party and political work in China, the 5th Vietnam-China Young Coast Guard Officers Exchange, and others. The 9th Vietnam-China Coast Guard Work Meeting will take place next year.

* On the same day, Ship CSB 8005, together with a delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard, led by Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard Region 3, docked at Kochi city in Kerala state, India, starting a visit to exchange and share experience with the Indian Coast Guard.
