During the talks, the two sides focused on key topics regarding the Party work and political work of the coast guard forces of the two countries, such as the role and functions of the party organization, the application of party theories to the building of determination among officers and soldiers, and the direction of military personnel during task implementation.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai said that Vietnam and China are neighboring countries with many similarities, both steadfast in advancing toward socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party. The friendly relationship is considered a shared asset of both nations and peoples, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong, and leaders of both countries over the years.

He affirmed that Vietnam always views the enhancement and development of the relations of “friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, looking towards the future” with China as an objective requirement, strategic choice, and top priority in its foreign policy.
Highlighting the cooperation outcomes between the Vietnamese and Chinese coat guard forces in recent years, Gen. Oai said that over the past time the two sides have concretized the memorandum of cooperation signed in 2016 through practical activities, such as establishing contact channels to regularly share information about law enforcement, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection; organizing port calls, joint patrols, and training; holding exchanges for young officers; and participating in the ‘Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends’ program, and more.
At the talks, Gen. Bui Quoc Oai shared several contents related to the organization and activities of the Party and political work within the Vietnam Coast Guard, seeing the conduct of Party and political work as a fundamental principle and an important content in the leadership of the Party over the force.

Major General Liu Houjie stressed the importance of the exchange on Party and political affairs between the two forces, considering this as a chance for them to foster the cooperation in an intensive manner.
He said both Vietnam and China are socialist countries, share many similarities in Party and political affairs, and have many useful lessons learned for each other, which will help enhance mutual trust and friendship between the forces.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard representatives shared with their Chinese counterparts about the role of Party organizations within the Vietnam Coast Guard and the promotion of the leadership role of Party committees and organizations at all levels.
The Chinese side shares experience in conducting education and dissemination work to raise awareness and responsibility among China Coast Guard Party members and in selecting and training officers to undertake Party and political work at various levels of the China Coast Guard.
The two sides also discussed the direction for organizing the second exchange program on Party and political work between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the China Coast Guard.
