Vietnam, Cambodia expand SAR cooperation in border areas
PANO – An agreement on search and rescue (SAR) cooperation in shared border areas has been inked by the Dong Thap provincial Military and Border Guard Commands and the Cambodia’s Svay Rieng Military Sub-region in Svay Rieng city, Cambodia.
Representatives from three units reviewed their coordination in 2018, and discussed and reached a consensus on solutions to boost bilateral SAR cooperation with a focus on information sharing.
They also agreed to organize a joint SAR exercise to raise each side’s competence.
Additionally, they will also task subordinated units stationed along the shared borderline to arrange standby personnel and vehicles for SAR missions if requested.
Previously, the Dong Thap provincial Border Guard Command handed over VND 20 million in cash to help Battalion 607 of the Pray Veng Police Department purchase new equipment.
