Vietnam, Cambodia promote defense cooperation
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, hosted a reception for a delegation from the Royal Gendarmerie Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, led by General On Sok-khon, Deputy Commander, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense on September 10.
At the reception, General Minh stressed that over the past 52 years, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia have made great progress in all fields, including defense and security.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, military and people always remember the valuable support and assistance by the Cambodian Government, people, and military for Vietnam during the resistance wars for national independence and reunification in the past and in the present renewal cause.
General Minh stated that Vietnam always attaches importance to expanding the good traditional relationship with Cambodia and considers this relationship an invaluable asset of the two countries, which needs to be further fostered in the current context.
For his part, General On Sok-khon said that the defense cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia is an important priority, which is highly promoted by senior military leaders of the two sides.
He also expressed his hope that the good relationship between the two countries' militaries will continue to be expanded in the coming time, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the friendship relations and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
