Affirming that the Vietnam - Belgium bilateral defense ties have been developed in many fields over the past time, General Chien requested that in the time ahead, both sides would continue to boost cooperation in the fields of delegation exchange, U.N. peacekeeping operations, military medicine, and war consequence settlement, among others.

For his part, Flahaut said that the visit to Vietnam aims to support Vietnamese Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims, underlining that the Belgian Chamber of Representatives passed a resolution in support of AO/dioxin victims in Vietnam in October 2023. He also expressed the Belgian side’s hope to together with Vietnam realize the resolution.

General Chien noted that Vietnam - Belgium cooperation on war legacy settlement over the past time has reached remarkable outcomes, and hailed the Belgian Chamber of Representatives as the first legislative body in the world to pass the resolution in support of AO/dioxin victims in Vietnam, contributing to calling on further support from the international community towards AO/dioxin victims in Vietnam.
