An overview of the talks

At the talks, both sides spoke highly of their recent coordination in managing and protecting the border and implementing legal documents on border issues. They have maintained information exchanges, closely monitored the situation, provided timely advice, and coordinated in addressing border-related issues, while conducting joint patrols along the borderline and protecting border markers. Since the beginning of 2026, the two sides have conducted 54 joint patrols involving nearly 1,000 officers and soldiers.

The two sides have also effectively maintained mechanisms for talks, regular briefings, and delegation exchanges. Since the beginning of the year, regular exchanges, information sharing, and greetings on traditional holidays have helped strengthen mutual understanding, trust, solidarity, and friendship, enabling the two sides to coordinate promptly in addressing issues arising along the shared borderlines.

Regarding future cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue directing their affiliated units to strictly implement the 1983 Agreement on Border Statute and other signed legal documents and cooperation agreements. They will work to accelerate the completion of border demarcation and marker planting in the field, enhance bilateral patrols to protect the borderline, and pro-actively coordinate in responding to non-traditional security challenges.

They will strengthen joint efforts to disseminate information and mobilize people to strictly comply with the laws of each country while coordinating to prevent and combat transnational crimes.
