At the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park, the delegations of the two militaries laid flowers and expressed their profound gratitude for the contribution of President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong to the struggles for national liberation, as well as the cause of national construction and defense. They also reaffirmed their shared determination to preserve and further strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic relations between Vietnam and Laos.

* In Dongbong Village, Naxaythong District, Vientiane, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and Deputy Defense Minister and Chairman of the GDP of the Lao People’s Army, along with delegates from both sides, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the headquarters of Battalion 988 under the Internal Security Department of the Lao GDP.
The two heads of delegation and representatives from both sides jointly pressed the buttons to officially launch the project.

With a total investment of VND 62 billion, funded by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and the GDP, the project is being constructed by Thanh An Corporation under Corps 11.
Upon completion, the new headquarters is expected to significantly improve the working, training, educational, and living conditions of Battalion 988 personnel, thereby enabling the unit to better fulfill its assigned missions.

* On the same day, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Political Theory School of the Lao People’s Army (LPA).
In his remarks, General Nghia underlined that the Party and political work are decisive factors in building a politically-strong military. Therefore, the Political Theory School plays an important role in educating and training political officers for the LPA.

He expressed his confidence that, under the leadership of the Lao MND and the GDP, the school would continue to uphold its proud traditions while constantly innovating and improving the quality of education and training; cultivating a contingent of officers with firm political stance, meeting the task requirements in the new situation; and further strengthening its role as the leading center for political theory education and training of outstanding officers for the LPA.
