The Turkish leader expressed his thanks when shaking hand with Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and head of the search and rescue mission of the VPA to Turkey, on February 20 during his visit to Hatay province.

In Hatay province, President Erdogan met with international rescue missions, including one from the VPA.

Apart from Hatay, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on February 20 also visited Kahramanmaras province to assess the damage of the devastating earthquake and rescue and disaster relief efforts.

As of February 19, the VPA’s search and rescue mission located 15 positions with victims, including two with signs of life.

Earlier, President Erdogan pledged that no one would be left homeless, and affirmed that the Turkish government targeted to build houses for homeless people in 10 earthquake-devastated provinces in the next one year.
