Vietnamese military rescuers find three more victims
PANO - The search and rescue (SAR) mission of the Vietnam People’s Army on February 15 found three more victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Hatay province, Turkey.
The delegation was divided into two teams. The first one, led by Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff and Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue, continued the search for victims in Haci Omer Alpagot commune, in Antakya – the capital of Hatay province.

The second one, led by Colonel Nguyen Duy Minh, Head of the U.S.-Australia-Africa Division under the Department of Foreign Relations under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, teamed with Bahrain’s rescue team to search at the residential area on Harapasi street, in Antakya. The Bahrain side asked the Vietnamese military rescue force for coordination because they did not have rescue equipment for engineers and service dogs.

Both Vietnamese SAR teams included engineers, service dogs, and medical staff.
During the day, both teams scanned eight positions of which three had victims.
The first rescue team located two dead victims and handed over them to the local heavy rescue force. The second one and Bahrain team entered the deepest and hardest place of the assigned area, where they positioned one victim and informed the victim’s family.
