From May 5 to June 1, the Vietnamese naval delegation aboard Ship 286-Le Quy Don will embark on a diplomatic and training mission, visiting China and the Philippines. According to Senior Captain Nguyen Dinh Giang, the voyage is to implement the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, and Naval Service’s policy on international integration and defense diplomacy, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and trust between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the naval forces of China and the Philippines, particularly in the context of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China, and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - Philippines strategic partnership.

The journey also serves as an opportunity for naval cadets to improve command and staff skills, master on-board equipment, and raise adaptability in handling situations at sea.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China and the Command of the Philippine Navy. They will host receptions and shipboard visits for foreign naval officers and sailors, and take part in cultural and sports exchanges. The Vietnamese naval personnel will also visit several historic and cultural sites in Guangzhou that are linked to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.
Regarding the preparation for the mission, Senior Captain Giang emphasized that the academy coordinated with functional units of the Ministry of National Defense, General Department of Political Affairs, General Staff, and Vietnam People’s Navy to be ready in all aspects, including personnel selection, technical and logistic service, finance, and training programs. Especially, they focused on selecting personnel with firm political awareness, professionalism, and a clear understanding of Vietnam’s foreign policy and host countries’ regulations.

Senior Captain Giang emphasized that previous international voyages by Ship 286 - Le Quy Don provided invaluable experience. The success of these missions was the result of personnel selection, detailed planning, and ensuring technical and logistic service during each voyage.
Each voyage takes place in a multicultural environment, requiring strong discipline, cooperation, and high responsibility. Therefore, all crew-members are thoroughly briefed on rules of conduct during task performance and are expected to strictly follow laws of Vietnam and the host countries. Besides, they are also ready for any circumstances at sea and determined to fulfill assigned tasks.
