Refresher course on local defense and military affairs opened for Lao officers
PANO - On June 11, at Military Region 4’s Military School, the General Staff opened a training course on local defense and military affairs for officers of the Lao People’s Army.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, chaired the opening ceremony of the course. Representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, the General Department of Political Affairs, and Military Region 4 also attended the event.
Scheduled from June 9 to August 7, the course provides 19 Lao officers with 14 topics covering general theory, local defense and military affairs, and national defense and security education.
Besides, the trainees will also observe a combat drill in the defensive area of Dai Dong commune and visit historical and cultural sites in Nghe An province.

Delivering a speech at the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc requested relevant units to coordinate closely to ensure the course runs as planned with high quality and effectiveness. He emphasized the importance of effective people-to-people diplomacy and educating troops to be deeply aware of the special Vietnam-Laos relations.
The Military Region 4’s Military School was instructed to strictly manage the course and select highly experienced instructors to effectively share knowledge, helping the Lao officers grasp basic knowledge to apply to their practical conditions.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc also expressed his hope that the Lao officers would overcome language barriers, strictly follow regulations, and actively study Vietnam’s local defense and military experiences. This aims to enhance the quality of their advisory work for local Party committees, authorities, and military agencies at all levels in Laos.
