Taking place from August 5 to 12th, the event aims to enhance the awareness, sense of responsibility, standards of conduct, and ability to handle CRSV- and SEA-related situations among the personnel of Viet Nam’s Level-2 Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 8 and Engineering Company Rotation 5 before their deployment to a U.N. peacekeeping mission.
During the exchange, U.K. experts will share U.N. regulations, policies, and standards on preventing and responding to CRSV and SEA, as well as practical experience in preventing, addressing, and responding to such incidents at U.N. peacekeeping missions. Participants will also discuss real-world scenarios, lessons learned, and measures to strengthen peacekeepers’ awareness and responsibility before deployment.
The program includes group discussions, experience-sharing sessions, and exchanges on professional issues aimed at improving operational readiness.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major James Smith, head of the U.K. expert delegation, praised the partnership between Viet Nam and the U.K. in U.N. peacekeeping and expressed his appreciation for Viet Nam’s achievement of U.N. training standards. He noted that since Viet Nam deployed its first L2FH to South Sudan, taking over from an U.K. L2FH in Bentiu, the country has made active contributions to U.N. peacekeeping operations.
According to VNDPKO’s Deputy Director Sr. Col. Nguyen Ba Hung, U.N. peacekeeping cooperation between Viet Nam and the U.K. has continued to develop positively in recent years, becoming a highlight of bilateral defense cooperation. The U.K. is one of Viet Nam’s important partners in supporting force preparation, training, and deployment.
The two countries have organized training programs, expert exchanges, and field exercises to strengthen the capabilities and operational readiness of Viet Nam’s U.N. peacekeeping forces. They have also conducted professional exchanges on international humanitarian law, CRSV and SEA prevention and response, and other areas related to pre-deployment preparations.

In the coming period, the two sides agreed to further strengthen expert exchanges, share experience, and conduct training activities to enhance the capabilities of Vietnamese personnel participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations. They will also expand cooperation in areas that meet the needs of both sides and the requirements of U.N. peacekeeping operations.
