The Vietnamese GDP’s Chairman expressed his delight at the significant achievements made by the Lao Party, State, people, and People's Army in recent years. He voiced confidence that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, headed by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos would continue to achieve new successes in its reform process, successfully implement the Resolution of the Party's 12th National Congress, and build a peaceful, independent, democratic, united, and prosperous Lao People's Democratic Republic, following the socialist path.
The host welcomed the continued development of bilateral ties, highlighting the growing depth and mutual trust in political relations, which provide strategic direction for overall cooperation. He noted that collaboration across various fields, particularly in defense, security, and national development, has become increasingly substantive and effective.
General Nghia briefed the Lao leader on the successful talks held earlier with General Vongsone Inpanphim, Chairman of Laos’ GDP. Both sides highly valued the cooperation achieved in implementing the common understandings reached by the defense leadership of the two countries and agreed to further strengthen comprehensive and practical cooperation in Party and political work as the foundation of political trust between the two militaries.
General Nghia also expressed appreciation to the Lao Party, Government, military, local authorities, and people for supporting the implementation of Viet Nam's "500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains," launched by the Vietnamese Government in March 2026.

Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith reaffirmed Laos' commitment to supporting closer defense cooperation, contributing to further strengthening the special solidarity and enduring friendship between the two militaries and peoples.
Later the same morning, General Nguyen Trong Nghia paid a courtesy call on Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, conveying the regards of Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and congratulating Laos on its recent achievements.
Briefing the Lao Prime Minister on the successful talks between the delegations of the two GDPs, the Vietnamese GDP’s Chairman emphasized the important cooperation outcomes achieved by both sides. He also expressed hope that the Lao Government would continue to support Vietnamese enterprises, including military-owned companies investing in Laos in terms of favorable mechanisms and policies, thereby contributing to economic development and poverty reduction, particularly in remote and strategically important areas.

For his part, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone congratulated Viet Nam on its recent achievements and expressed gratitude for Viet Nam's sincere and comprehensive support for Laos. He reaffirmed that Laos will always value and remember Viet Nam's impartial assistance during its struggle for national liberation and in its ongoing national development.
During the visit, General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the Vietnamese delegation also toured the Lao People's Army History Museum in Vientiane. Under the annual cooperation plan, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense has regularly dispatched experts to assist the museum. In 2026, the Viet Nam Military History Museum sent three experts to support artifact inventory management, software maintenance, assembly of large exhibits, development of a computerized collection management system, and assessment of three battlefield dioramas between June 1 and June 30.
