Training course for international defense officials concludes
PANO - The National Defense Academy concluded the fourth training course for international defense officials on November 17. The event was chaired by Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission and the Academy’s Director, and attended by representatives of embassies and foreign defense detaches in Hanoi.

During the one-month long course, 22 defense officials from 14 countries studied Vietnam’s history of national protection and defense, military culture, the whole people’s warfare, the building of the whole people’s defense disposition, the political system, defense and diplomatic policies, strengths of Vietnam’s army, tradition and organization of the Vietnam People’s Army, the human rights situation in Vietnam, regional and world security situations and Vietnam’s viewpoints in dealing with regional and international issues, especially those related to seas and islands. The trainees also toured some famous historical and cultural sites of Vietnam and units of the Vietnam People’s Army.
On behalf of the trainees, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander of the Security Forces of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of Sri Lanka Army, emphasized that he was impressed by the historial tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army which stood side by side with the Vietnamese people. He said that he learned more about the remarkable socio-economic, defense, security and diplomatic achievements of Vietnam, especially the outcomes of the freshly-ended 2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Week.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Viet Khoa congratulated the foreign defense officials on their studying outcomes and hoped that they would make active and effective contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between their peoples and militaries with the Vietnamese people and military, helping consolidate and promote peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole.
