PANO – The Vietnam People’s Navy on January 21st handed over six rescued fishermen to the Philippine Navy on the Southwest Cay (Song Tu Tay) Island, Truong Sa (Spratly) island district, Khanh Hoa province.

Earlier, while fishing at sea, trawler BAT-06-0252 with six fishermen on board went adrift offshore the island due to the engine failure and then sank near the island on January 16th.

Having been rescued, the fishermen were taken ashore safely by the islands’ troops and provided heath care and food as well.

Through the hotline between the two navies, the handover ceremony’s date has been set and the fishermen then were handed over to the Philippine Navy on Song Tu Tay Island.
