Mr. Vo Van Thuong presenting gifts to the unit

During the event, the Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong acknowledged and lauded the Naval Service and units for their obtained achievements over the past time. The official said that he laid trust on troops’ political stance and readiness to fight to safeguard national sovereignty over sea and islands. 

In the context of higher requirements of the mission of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands, comrade Vo Van Thuong asked the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy to focus on building politically strong units, serving as a basis to raise troops’ strength and combat readiness capability to meet task requirements in the new situation. He also urged the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy to work with central and local departments, ministries, and agencies to build stronger all-people defense posture associated with the people's security posture at sea.

While visiting and encouraging troops of the Naval Service and other forces, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang asked the Party Committees and Chains-of-Command of the Navy and units to raise their responsibility to lead and direct their units to comprehensively fulfill missions; strictly observe combat readiness regulations; actively follow situational developments to give timely advice to higher levels and work with other forces to deal with arising circumstances.

He urged the naval force to focus on raising troops’ political stance to serve as a basis for building comprehensively a strong service with high combat readiness and being capable of excellently fulfilling the mission of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.

General Phan Van Giang urged the Navy to pay attention to building combat forces at sea and forces in charge of ensuring combat operations at sea. He also emphasized the need to step up military training, research and develop naval operation art, especially coordination among services, arms and other forces, and constantly improve the capability of managing and protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.

The defense chief hoped that troops of the Navy and units would continue to strive, overcome all difficulties and hardships, be ready to undertake tasks, and maintain peaceful and stable environment at sea, contributing to the building and protection of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the new situation.
