The Vietnamese delegation, consisting of over 70 military medical staff, primarily from Military Hospital 6 (VPA’s Military Region 2), along with support from Central Military Hospital 108, traveled to Sop Bao District to work with Lao military medical personnel to provide healthcare services to border residents as planned.

An overview of the event

During the event, military medical personnel from both sides conducted medical screenings, identified common health issues, and provided health information, disease prevention guidance, and medical treatment to locals. This activity also served as an opportunity for military medical staff from both countries to exchange, share experience, and learn from each other.

Senior Colonel Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army, who is also the head of the Vietnamese delegation, expressed his hope that during the mission, the medical teams from both sides would enhance their experience sharing, continuously improving their professional skills in all areas. He also called for close coordination between relevant agencies and forces to ensure security and safety in the area, as well as effective handling of any arising situations.

According to the plan, over the next two days in Sop Bao District, the combined forces of the two countries’ military medical teams will provide free healthcare and medicine to approximately 1,600 residents in the border area. After that, they will continue the joint medical examination and free medication distribution for people in the border area of Moc Chau District, Son La Province, Vietnam.
