Vietnamese defense leader pays courtesy call on Minister of National Defense of Laos
PANO - On July 10, visiting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defense Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien paid a courtesy call on Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone, Minister of National Defense of Laos.
Gen. Hien is accompanying Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung on his official visit to Laos.
At the meeting, Gen. Hien thanked the host for the reception and respectfully conveyed the greetings and invitation from Vietnamese Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang to the Lao host to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

The Lao defense chief congratulated his Vietnamese guest on the new appointment and expressed hope that he would continue close coordination to strengthen the bilateral defense relations.
During the meeting, the host and guest highly appreciated the outcomes in defense cooperation and agreed to effectively implement the cooperation plan 2025, promote information sharing, border security protection, fight against hostile forces and disseminate information about the great Vietnam-Laos friendship among young generations of the two countries.

The Lao defense minister asserted that Laos will send personnel to participate in the parade marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. He also reaffirmed the enduring and close-knit bond between the two countries’ militaries and peoples, regardless of the global changes.
On this occasion, Gen. Hien expressed hope that the Lao government would continue to facilitatethe investment and operation of Vietnamese businesses in the country, particularly those from the Vietnamese military, thereby strengthening the economic cooperation and the great friendship between the two countries.
