Speaking at the event, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam expressed his delight at the development of Singapore - Vietnam bilateral cooperation across all fields, with strong economic collaboration serving as the foundation.
Highlighting the significance of the recent upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) earlier this year by General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Ambassador Ratnam noted that this is Singapore’s first CSP with an ASEAN country and one of the only three CSPs that Singapore has established in the world.

He stated that the relations between the two countries have been adjusted and swiftly adapted to new realities, as the Singapore - Vietnam ties are anchored in the strong political trust between the leaders of the two countries.
He also hoped that the ties will continue to flourish, bringing benefits to people of the two countries and contributing to the stability, peace, and prosperity of ASEAN.

For his part, Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien underscored that since the establishment of diplomatic ties (August 1973), the Vietnam-Singapore bilateral relations have grown increasingly in a substantive and effective manner. The two countries share numerous potential, advantages, strategic interests, and a common aspiration for peace, stability, and prosperous development.
Gen. Chien affirmed that throughout its 60-year journey of building and development, the Singapore Armed Forces have continuously grown in strength and expanded international cooperation, including many practical and effective fields of cooperation with the Vietnam People's Army.

He also expressed his confidence that under the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and with the goodwill and efforts of both sides, the friendship and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Singapore in general and defense cooperation in particular will continue to advance to new heights, becoming more substantive and effective.
