PANO - A delegation of foreign military attachés to Vietnam visited the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (VPD) under the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense on July 19.
The visit was organized by the Department of External Affairs under the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense.
During the visit, foreign military attachés learned more about the establishment and development of the VPD over the past time as well as Vietnam’s recent participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations. On the occasion, the VPD’s representative also informed visitors of the preparation for an international conference to be co-held by the VPD and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in early September this year in a bid to improve the country’s capabilities for UN peacekeeping operations.
On behalf of the delegation, Colonel Mpiwa Kgotso Abiel, South African military attaché to Vietnam, highly valued the active and effective participation of Vietnam in UN peacekeeping operations. At the same time, he congratulated the VPD on the recognition of it as a peacekeeping training center in the framework of the UN multi-stakeholder partnership.
At the end of the visit, delegates toured several VPD’s facilities, including lecture rooms and a training center.
