The event was presided over by Major General Thai Van Minh, Director of the Department of Military Training under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Present at the event were delegates and military attachés of ASEAN member states and participating contingents.

Addressing the event, General Minh, on behalf of the organizer, warmly welcomed participating contingents. He emphasized that the flag-hoisting ceremony was of important significance, demonstrating the host’s respect for the principle of defense diplomacy, marking the presence of the contingents, and creating motivation and determination to compete for the pride of each military.

The Vietnamese official confirmed that in the spirit of “ASEAN armies cooperate and be united for peace,” AARM-30 looks toward the harmonious development and common prosperity in the region, contributing to building a world of peace, stability, cooperation and development.

AARM-30 is not only a place for talented gunners in the armed forces of ASEAN countries to compete, but also an opportunity for them to strengthen solidarity, friendship, understanding and mutual learning.

According to General Minh, the hosting of the AARM-30 affirms Vietnam’s active and proactive and extensive international integration. It is also an opportunity for ASEAN armies to show their determination to promote strong and in-depth cooperation.

As envisaged, the opening ceremony of AARM-30 will take place on November 6.
