The Chinese delegation returned home, wrapping up the friendship exchange activities in Vietnam’s Lao Cai province in the framework of the ongoing eighth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

The eighth edition of the exchange, taking place on April 11 and 12, is co-chaired by Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun.

Before the farewell ceremony, Minister Phan Van Giang chaired a banquet for Minister Dong Jun and the Chinese delegation.

Earlier, both ministers attended the talks between the high-ranking delegations of the Vietnamese and Chinese defense ministries, during which the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on setting up a hotline between the Vietnamese ministry’s Naval Service and the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation of China.

On the morning, the two defense chiefs took part in a number of meaningful activities, such as sovereignty marker-saluting, border friendship tree planting, attending the inaugural ceremony of the Vietnam-China Friendship Cultural House, visit to Kim Dong Primary School and the Border Post of Lao Cai International Border Gate.

Tomorrow, April 12, the exchange will continue with activities in Yunnan province, China.
