Addressing the event, Major General Nguyen Hong Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Personnel under the GDP, emphasized that it is important to send troops to study abroad to provide high quality human resources with good professional expertise and advanced scientific and technological knowledge for the military and the country. He said that basically, these troops, after the training abroad, have well applied acquired knowledge to their future missions.

According to Gen. Phuong, many have become good leaders in agencies and units or key cadres in mastering, upgrading, and modernizing weapons and equipment. He attributed the development of the Vietnamese defense industry sector in recent years to the great contribution of such servicemen.

Assigning tasks to the trainees, Gen. Phuong asked them to show determination, promote spirit of self-reliance, overcome difficulties, exert efforts to well study and practice and complete the training courses.

Given that studying abroad is each trainees’ honor, and responsibility for the Fatherland building and defense cause, Gen. Phuong asked them to uphold political stance, ideology, be absolute loyal to the Party’s revolutionary cause, and stand firm against any challenges. He also requested them to observe the laws of Vietnam and the host country, external military affairs regulations, and regulations of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, training establishments’ rules, among others.

The official also urged trainee delegations of each school to pay attention to building solidarity, promoting mutual support in study and daily life, and the good image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. They should also keep contact with Vietnamese defense attaché offices the host countries and maintain good relationship with Vietnamese community there.

A representative of the trainees expressed their honor to study abroad and said that it was a responsibility of each serviceman to the Party, State, military and people. He promised to surmount all difficulties, pro-actively study, research, and support each other, meet the course’s requirements, contributing to raising the prestige and position of Vietnam among international friends.
