Deputy Defense Minister bids farewell to US Defense Attaché
PANO – On August 12 in Hanoi, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister, received Colonel Ton That Tuan, out-going US Defense Attaché, who has just finished his working tenure in Vietnam.
At the meeting, General Vinh acknowledged and highly valued contributions of the outgoing US Defense Attaché to enhancing the defense relations between the two countries.
Over this time, Vietnam and the US have witnessed the development of defense cooperation in various fields, especially in overcoming post-war consequences, personnel training, and UN peacekeeping operations.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister wanted the US Defense Attaché to further contribute to fostering the friendship, cooperation, and mutual trust and understanding between the two countries in general and the two militaries in particular.
For his part, Colonel Tuan thanked the assistance of General Vinh and the leadership of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry during his tenure in the country. He was impressed by the hospitality of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam People’s Army, and by the capabilities of the Vietnamese officers in charge of defense external affairs.
He believed that the development of the two sides’ defense relationship would further contribute to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
