The Lao delegation is on a working visit to Vietnam. 

During the conversation, Gen. Anh affirmed that senior leaders of the two countries always attach importance to preserving and consolidating the great friendship and special solidarity between the two governments, peoples, and militaries and wish to further foster the fine relationship.

The Vietnamese defense leader took the occasion to recall his sentiment and good impression of exchanges and cooperation activities between units and localities of the two countries when he held the position as Commander of Military Region 4. He said that those activities practically contributed to consolidating and strengthening the friendship and great relationship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The GS’s deputy chief affirmed that the bilateral defense cooperation has been paid due attention to and carried out in a substantial and effective manner. He highly appreciated the outcomes of the guests’ earlier talks with Vietnam’s Signal Corps and welcomed the newly-signed memorandum of understanding on establishing and running a hotline between the Vietnamese and Lao defense ministries.

At the talks, the two sides exchanged measures to further foster the bilateral cooperation in the coming time. Commander of the Signal Corps Major General Khuc Dang Tuan briefed the Lao side on the force’s tasks and shared Vietnam’s experience in managing and exploiting communication system. He said that the Lao delegation’s Vietnam visit would contribute to deepening the solidarity between the two sides. Meanwhile, Colonel Souban Phanthavi, who co-chaired the talks, thanked Vietnam’s Signal Corps for its assistance over the past time and affirmed that the support is a clear proof of the special solidarity between the two militaries.

An overview of the talks

After evaluating the exploitation of communication devices presented by the Vietnamese Defense Ministry (MND) to Laos and their coordination in managing and operating the communication system, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing and running a hotline between the two defense ministries.

At the reception, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Doan Anh highly appreciated the outcomes of cooperation of the two units in experience sharing, training, delegation exchange over the past time. He said that in the coming time, Vietnam’s Signal Corps and Laos’ Signal Department should effectively actualize the agreement on the above hotline, strengthen experience sharing, and foster coordination in human resource training.

Gen. Anh affirmed that the Vietnamese MND and GS will facilitate the further cooperation between the two units, contributing to strengthening the defense ties between Vietnam and Laos.  

The head of the Lao delegation thanked the Vietnam People’s Army for its support to help Laos strengthen its signal force to meet the requirement of tasks of the Lao People’s Army in the new period. He expected the Vietnamese MND and GS will further create favorable conditions for signal forces of the two countries to boost their cooperation in a substantial and effective manner.
