Implementing the cooperation agreement, the Border Guard Commands of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces and the Khammouane provincial Military Command have actively disseminated information and encouraged local people to observe the Protocol on the borderline and national landmarks between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the agreement on land border and border gates management regulations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the three sides have regularly exchanged information and situation, conducted patrols to protect the borderline and the system of border landmarks; effectively fought against different kinds of crimes; ensured political security, social order and safety; and firmly managed and safeguarded the territorial sovereignty and security along Vietnam - Laos borderline.

Over the past time, border stations of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh’s Border Guard Commands have worked with the Border Guard Company of the Khammouane provincial Military Command to carry out bilateral patrols while providing medicines and food for the border guard company and local people in adjacent areas, among others.

At the talk, all sides agreed to ink many important contents. In particular, the units will continue to strictly implement the cooperation agreement signed by the Border Guard Command under Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense and the Department of Border Guard under the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army; promote information dissemination and education to raise people’s awareness of law observance; enhance exchanging information and situations related to national security to ensure political security, social order and safety in border areas, regularly organize bilateral patrols to protect borderline and border landmarks; and actively share experience in the border management and protection, and the Party and political work, to name but a few.

The units will also coordinate with each other to conduct search and rescue operations, natural disaster response, disease prevention and control, and environmental pollution settlement in border areas, and organize refresher courses for officers of the Khammouane provincial Military Command, and more.

Earlier, a delegation of the Khammouane provincial Military Command visited and offered incense at the Dong Loc Junction national special historical relic site in Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province.
