General Giang emphasized that Vietnam and Malaysia are neighbors at sea, and active and responsible members of ASEAN. Vietnam also attaches much importance to boosting the strategic partnership with Malaysia and supporting Malaysia to perform its role as the ASEAN Chair 2025.

He also expressed his delight at the development of the Vietnam - Malaysia relations, hoping that the bilateral political trust would be further promoted, while cooperation in many fields, such as culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchange would be developed effectively. He underscored that the bilateral defense and military cooperation has made important contribution to the achievements that both sides have obtained.

For his part, General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman noted that his official visit to Vietnam showed the sound cooperative relations between the two countries and militaries, while realizing the Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation between the two governments signed in December 2023. He emphasized that amid challenges facing the world, nations have to join hands and cooperate with each other.

General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman informed General Giang about the outcomes of his previous talks with Vietnamese Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong. Accordingly, both sides reviewed cooperation over the past time, and discussed measures to boost the cooperation in the time ahead.

General Giang hailed the results of the talks, as well as the cooperation outcomes between the two militaries over the past time, requesting that in the time to come, both sides should promote cooperation in the agreed fields, and other potential ones, such as defense industry, military medicine, U.N. peacekeeping operations, and supporting each other at multilateral forums and international events, to name but a few.

The Vietnamese defense minister also conveyed his invitation to the Malaysian Defense Minister to visit Vietnam and attend the ceremony to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Second Vietnam International Defense Expo. He expressed his hope that leaders of the Malaysian Defense Ministry, military and General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman would attend the expo.
