The host congratulated the ambassador on taking her term of office in Vietnam at a time when the two countries are marking the 45th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties.

He underlined that, thanks to efforts of the Vietnamese and Canadian Defense Ministries as well as assistance from the Canadian Embassy in Hanoi, the two sides’ defense cooperation has been expanded considerably in the fields of exchange of delegations at all levels, consultancy  and dialogues, personnel training, UN peacekeeping operations, and settlement of war-left consequences.

General Lich expressed his belief that during her term of office in Vietnam, the bilateral defense relations would further develop to contribute to the Vietnam-Canada comprehensive partnership.

For her part, the Canadian Ambassador thanked the Vietnamese Defense Minister for the warm reception.

She emphasized that Canada wants to promote its relations with Vietnam as well as other ASEAN member countries, and vowed that she would do her utmost to contribute to the development of multifaceted cooperation, including defense cooperation, between Canada and Vietnam in the coming time.
