Defense leader receives Lao military attachés

The Vietnamese defense leader congratulated the Colonel Vongxay Inthakham on the successful completion of his tenure in Vietnam. He acknowledged and highly appreciated the Lao officer’s active contribution to boosting the bilateral relations in general and the two sides’ defense cooperation in particular.

Emphasizing that the Vietnam - Laos relationship has been continuously strengthened and developed, General Chien expressed his delight at the outcomes of the bilateral defense ties over the past time, especially in the fields of delegation exchange, training, border management and protection, and dissemination on the Vietnam-Laos special friendship.

At the meeting, General Chien also congratulated Colonel Viengxay Soulivong on being appointed the Lao Military Attaché to Vietnam and hoped that the Lao officer would uphold task performance of his predecessor and closely work with relevant agencies of Vietnam to effectively roll out agreed contents of the bilateral defense cooperation, with a focus on delegation exchange and cooperation mechanisms, training, border management and protection, dissemination on the Vietnam - Laos special friendship, and reviewing the implementation of the protocol on defense cooperation between the two ministries during the 2020-2024 period and mapping out another one for the 2025-2029 period.

An overview of the event

For his part, Colonel Vongxay Inthakham deeply thanked Vietnamese defense leaders and other authorized agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for their support during his term in Vietnam. He stressed that in any positions, he would actively contribute to the further development of the relations between the two countries and militaries.

Colonel Viengxay Soulivong pledged to continuously bring into play the results achieved by his predecessor and make new contribution to further promoting the development of the bilateral defense cooperation. He also urged Vietnamese defense leaders and other functional agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to create considerable conditions for him to well complete assigned missions during his tenure in Vietnam.
