At the meeting, the Vietnamese defense leader emphasized the significance of the French official's visit to Vietnam. He said that the visit is a clear proof of the spirit of “setting aside the past, looking toward a bright future” for the cooperation and development between the two countries and two peoples.

Gen. Chien assessed that since the third Vietnam - France Defense Strategy and Cooperation Dialogue (December, 2023), the defense ties between the two sides have been effectively implemented based on the Vietnam - France Defense Cooperation Program 2024 and in line with the orientation for the development of the bilateral defense relationship agreed upon by the defense leaders of both countries.

Chien suggested the two sides study and focus on collecting historical documents to compile historical education materials, enhancing the exchange of information and war artifacts, and organizing joint seminars on historical topics.

For her part, Patricia Miralles agreed with Gen. Chien’s proposals related to cooperation in sharing war memories and thanked the Vietnamese side for inviting French Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecornu and herself to Vietnam.
