Coast guard ships leave for Vietnam – China joint patrol
PANO – Ships CSB 8003 and CSB 8004 and a delegation of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, led its Deputy Commander Senior Colonel Luong Cao Khai, left Dinh Vu port in Hai Phong city on November 1 for the Vietnam - China joint patrol in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin delimitation line.
This is the second joint patrol in 2022 between the Vietnamese and Chinese coast guard forces in the waters. The two sides will patrol 13 locations in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin delimitation line with a distance of 255.5 nautical miles.

After the Vietnam - China agreement on fishery cooperation in the Gulf of Tonkin expired on June 30, 2020, the Vietnamese and Chinese coast guard forces have conducted various joint patrols in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin delimitation line to ensure fishing activities to take place normally in the time when the two countries are negotiating to determine the next cooperation contents.
Speaking at the departure ceremony, Senior Colonel Luong Cao Khai said that the joint patrol is to maintain order and security in the Gulf of Tonkin, thus contributing to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding between the coast guard forces of the two countries.
In addition, the joint patrol aims to disseminate law to fishermen and enhance command capability and experience of the coast guard troops.
As planned, the two sides will hold phone talks, inspect boats and ships operating in the areas, disseminate regulations and law to fishermen, and practice coordinating in search and rescue at sea.
