Warmly welcoming the Belarusian delegation, the PAN’s Editor-in-Chief, Major General Pham Van Huan, wished them a successful visit to Vietnam.

Gen. Huan briefed the delegation on the newspaper’s 67 years of development and evolution. He emphasized that the PAN is an organ of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, and the voice of the armed forces and people of Vietnam.
The PAN’s first edition was published on October 20, 1950 in Khau Dieu village, Dinh Bien commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province.
In the resistance wars for national salvation and protection, the PAN’s war correspondents closely followed troops in order to write timely and lively articles on the developments in the battle fields. Among its nine military reporters who died during the war, two were conferred and bestowed posthumously with the title of the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces. The PAN itself had the honor of being awarded with the title of the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and Labor Hero in the Renewal Process.
Over the past years, the PAN has closely watched and comprehensively reflected all aspects of the country, focusing on the Party’s guidelines and policies on military and defense as well as the armed forces’ training and combat readiness.
The PAN has also been affirmed to be one of the nation’s leading political newspapers and promoted its advantages on the attempts to fight against “Peaceful evolution”. Both the Party and State have highly appreciated the PAN’s efforts. The readers have also maintained their love and trust in it.
The newspaper now has five publications, including the daily, the weekly, the Events and Witnesses magazine, the online newspaper of Vietnamese, English and Chinese versions, along with the internal journal named Correspondents. It will also post the Lao and Khmer versions on its online newspaper.
On behalf of the Belarusian delegation, Colonel Sobolevsky thanked the newspaper for the warm welcome and expressed his admiration for the PAN's glorious history and achievements. He spoke highly of the high quality of the PAN's publications and its cadres', editors' and reporters' professionalism. He also stressed that the visit to the PAN would be useful for the delegation.
During the working visit, in an open and cozy atmosphere, the two sides discussed issues of common concern and shared their experiences with the aim of bettering the missions of both agencies in the future.
