The decisions of the State President and the Minister of National Defense regarding the assignment were presented to Maj. Cuong at a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Defense (MND) headquarters on June 5.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, and Head of the Steering Committee of the MND on Participation in U.N. Peacekeeping Operations, chaired the event.

Addressing the event, Gen. Chien emphasized the vital role of military observers, often referred to as the “eyes and ears” of U.N. Missions, who operate in complex and challenging security environments. He stressed that to fulfill his duties, Maj. Cuong must make thorough preparations across all aspects.
He urged the officer, upon arrival at the mission area, to uphold the spirit of international solidarity and internal unity, particularly the values of self-reliance, independence, creativity, and close coordination, while ensuring absolute safety during task execution.

The defense leader encouraged Maj. Cuong to uphold the traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Vietnamese peacekeeping forces. He also called on the officer to strive for the best possible outcomes, helping to affirm the competence, wisdom, and exemplary character of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in a multinational, international working environment.

General Chien also commended the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations and relevant units for their effective preparations, training, and personnel development efforts. He expressed his belief that more outstanding Vietnamese individuals and units would contribute to U.N. peacekeeping missions, especially in higher-level positions at U.N. Missions and U.N. Headquarters, thus enhancing Vietnam’s global image and role.
