All members of the Engineering Company Rotation 1 present at UNISFA
PANO - The second group of the Vietnam’s Engineering Company Rotation 1 arrived at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) at 14:00 (local time) on June 15 after four days with absolute safety.
Together with the 28-strong advance mission, all 184 members of the Engineering Company Rotation 1 are now present at UNISFA and ready to undertake peacekeeping duties there.
In four days, the second groups with 156 members travelled through six countries and territories, crossing more than 10,000km by both land and air. They were divided into smaller groups due to the capacity of each kind of vehicles. Attentively, from Noi Bai International Airport, the Vietnamese engineers transited in New Delhi (India) and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). They also stayed in Entebbe (Uganda) to make U.N.’s IDs, receive more logistic supplies and complete other administrative procedures for the next two trips.
In Entebbe, Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr, Commanding Officer of UNISFA, visited Vietnamese engineers. This demonstrated the CO’s thoughtfulness and special sentiments for the Vietnam People’s Army.
On June 14, the second group formed three smaller groups to board three hard-wing aircraft to fly to Kadougli (Sudan). Upon the arrival in Kadougli, it rained heavily, forcing the Vietnamese engineers to stay there one night. They continued their journey the next morning with the U.N helicopters. During the four-day journey, they strictly observed regulations.
Below are several photos of the second group of the Engineering Company Rotation 1 during the journey.
