Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh and VBF Co-Chair Virginia Foote

During a reception in Hanoi on June 25 for the Power and Energy Sub-Working Group led by VBF Co-Chair Virginia Foote, Binh expressed readiness to listen to VBF’s suggestions regarding policy-making in energy development.

Affirming Vietnam’s strategic priority for sustainable energy development, Binh vowed to offer all possible support to multinational corporations and private sector at home and abroad to join Vietnam’s clean energy market.

He said the sub-working group and VBF’s discussion results and recommendations will provide important reference for the Vietnamese Party and Government leaders to decide on national energy strategies and policies.

Foote, for her part, updated her host on the implementation of the VBF’s recommendations since its conference in late 2018 and talked about its new suggestions.

The two sides compared notes on the purchase of clean energy in countries and the purchase and production of clean energy in Vietnam.

The VBF offered recommendations on policies and legal frameworks to remove obstacles and develop the market for clean and renewable energy in Vietnam, including wind, solar and biomass energy.

It also suggested energy saving solutions and ways to enhance the private sector’s involvement in the field.
