Businesses’ intellectual property rights protected
PANO - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception for a delegation of the Vietnam-ASEAN Association for Economic Cooperation Development on October 5 in Hanoi.
At the reception, representatives from various enterprises hoped that the Government will continue supporting the reduction of corporate income and value added taxes, and land rents in 2020 and 2021 and help businesses in detecting global investment trends so that they can hammer out proper personnel plans and business strategies.

In the context that Vietnam is carrying out a series of Free Trade Agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), businesses hope that the Government will tighten intellectual property management and accelerate the disbursement of business support packages.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh recalled the Government’s efforts in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and helping businesses overcome challenges caused by the pandemic. Apart from issuing serious support policies, the Government also paid attention to accelerating public administrative reforms and creating a better trade environment.
The Deputy PM hoped that the Vietnam-ASEAN Association for Economic Cooperation Development and its members will pay more attention to ASEAN markets which have seen positive changes in recent years. He asked businesses to actively and proactively seize opportunities and overcome challenges while carrying out free trade agreements.
Regarding intellectual property rights protection, the Deputy PM affirmed that the Government will accelerate the protection of intellectual property rights in the context that Vietnam is implementing various free trade agreements. Recently, Vietnam issued the Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy until 2030. He urged businesses to register their intellectual property rights soon for their protection.
