Agro-forestry-fishery exports were estimated to reach USD 2.69 billion in November, pushing total figure so far this year to USD 29.1 billion, a rise of 5.9 percent over the same period last year.
The results make the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s set export value target of USD 31 billion for this year more feasible.
However, in November, rice exports saw a sharp drop as only 353,000 tons were sold for USD 156 million. In the first 11 months of this year, the country shipped abroad 4.54 million tons of rice for USD 2 billion, a year on year fall of 25 percent in volume and 20.3 percent in value.

At the same time, decrease was also seen in export of cassava and cassava products, as 294,000 tons were bought for USD 80 million, which raised the figures in January-November to 3.3 million tons and USD 896 million, respectively, down 12.3 percent and 24.9 percent over the same period last year.
China was the largest consumer of Vietnam’s rice, cassava and cassava products. The country imported 36 percent of Vietnam’s total exported rice and 86.2 percent of shipped cassava and cassava products.
Meanwhile, rubber exports enjoyed high growth with an export volume of 117,000 tons and a value of USD 165 million, raising the figures so far this year to 1.1 million tons and USD 1.43 million, an increase 12.3 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively, compared to the same time in 2015.
Major agricultural products, such as coffee, peppercorn and tea, still maintained good growth in export.
In the 11-month period, Vietnam exported 1.6 million tons of coffee for USD 2.98 billion, a surge of 36.1 percent and 24.3 percent, respectively; 230,000 tons of cashew for USD 2.59 billion, up 6.2 percent in volume and 18.3 percent in value. Peppercorn exports also enjoyed a 15 percent rise to reach USD 1.37 billion.
Shipment of aquatic products in November was estimated to hit USD 6.4 billion, up 6.9 percent year on year, while that of major forestry products is USD 6.5 billion, a rise of 0.8 percent.
