Production of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture has still kept the growth momentum in the first 6 months, despite the economic recession, says the General Department of Statistics.
The aggregate production value rose 2.5 per cent year on year, of which agriculture was up by 1.8 per cent, forestry and aquaculture jumped up 3.1 per cent and 4.3 per cent, respectively.
Based on reports from nationwide localities, the department said that rice production of the winter-spring crop reached 18.6 million tonnes, up by 312,000 tonnes year on year, thanks to a higher productivity of the crop.
Meanwhile, the number of domestic animals also saw a gradual rise as animal diseases had been basically controlled in the localities.
The total forest planting area in the first 6 months reached 73,300 ha, up by 6.2 per cent against the same time last year, while total timber production increased by 7.5 per cent.
The total aquaculture production stood at 22876 00 tonnes, up by 5 per cent year on year, of which farming production made up nearly half as the area of Tra and Basa farming had sharply shrunken due to changes of the export markets.
