Deputy-General Director of Viettel, Tao Duc Thang
Viettel signed a contract with the APEC 2017 National Committee to build broadband infrastructure and provide internet, television, mobile and landline telephone services, network and information-technology equipment and 4G SIM cards to all delegates.

Viettel has built 44 transmission cable lines with a total length of around 100km since May in order to ensure smooth communications for the event, plus environmentally friendly base transceiver stations (BTS) in order to contribute to maintaining the beauty of the landscape in Da Nang.

Especially, the group will improve its telecom services in all of Da Nang city and Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) to better serve APEC 2017 delegates and tourists as well.

Thang said that the group’s investment in the event is not only to serve the AELW, whereby they will popularize the image of Vietnam being the land of hospitality to foreign friends around the world, but also these new facilities will continue to serve local people afterwards.

Viettel also pledges to ensure information security around-the-clock for the event, added Thang.

According to the company’s leadership, Viettel gained valuable experience from Peru, the host of the 2016 AELW. At the time, Bitel, a joint venture company of Viettel in Peru, was tasked with providing telecommunications services for the event. They made a record of offering 4G coverage nationwide within 20 days and, they noted, the Vietnamese delegates joining the 2016 AELW were the first customers of the service in Peru.

The success of Bitel paved the way for Viettel to accomplish its tasks in the coming 2017 AELW in Da Nang, he concluded.
