The seminar discussed information and skills in the science and technology field, such as scientific research in the industry from A to Z, applications of data science in many fields, to name but a few. Especially, the event also focused on supporting and empowering women to work in the science and technology field.

During the event

Viettel currently has more than 14,000 female officers and employees, accounting for 29% of the group’s number of total personnel working in Vietnam, 2.5 times higher than the average number in the field of information technology, electronics and telecommunications globally.

It also has two female WiDS Hanoi ambassadors, Ms. Nguyen Tran Ngoc Linh, Director of Big Data Analysis Center, Viettel Telecom Corporation, and Ms. Ung Kim Phuong, Manager of Data Analytics Project at Viettel Business Solutions.

Addresisng the event, Major General Nguyen Dinh Chien, Viettel’s Deputy General Director hoped that the seminar would be held annually, contributing to encouraging and creating favorable conditions for women to work in science and technology field.

Reportedly, Stanford University launched the first WiDS conference in November 2015 to highlight women doing amazing technical work in data science. So far, it has become one of the most prestigious organizations in the data science field worldwide. Over the past years, it organized more than 200 events with 500 ambassadors in more than 60 countries.

In Vietnam, the WiDS Hanoi inspired women studying and working in science and technology field in Vietnam and all over the world.
