By 11a.m. on August 25, Viettel had mobilized more than 230 teams to support mobile base stations and 150 teams to handle landline broadband problems in storm-affected provinces. In addition to local “4 on-site” forces, Viettel has also deployed additional commanding staff to directly coordinate storm response efforts.

In the late afternoon, as Typhoon Kajiki made landfall in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces with winds reaching level 12, while Quang Tri and Thanh Hoa also experienced strong winds and heavy rain. Viettel has set up 24/7 operating groups and applied different measures to ensure stable communications in these areas.
To counter potential power outages, Viettel has deployed 380 generators and 904 portable batteries to key provinces, while local branches stockpiled fuel for prolonged disruptions, particularly in flood-prone and isolated areas. Mobile stations were inspected to guarantee automatic power switching. Viettel has also prepared reserves of essential telecom equipment above standard levels, equipping all 10 storm-affected provinces with emergency repair equipment, such as fusion splicers, measuring devices, and satellite phones.

In addition, the business worked with other network providers to implement two-way roaming in communes and wards at risk of flooding, landslides, or isolation, ensuring seamless communications even under the worst scenarios.
Since early 2025, Viettel has strengthened its telecommunications infrastructure and secured multiple backup connection routes for each region. Most cable lines have been reinforced to withstand natural disasters, while key transmission stations have been equipped to operate independently of the power grid for extended periods. Across provinces and cities affected by Kajiki, the entire Viettel network has been digitized on centralized management systems, monitored in real time, and supported by technologies for automatic incident detection, alerts, and resolution.
Viettel has sent safety alerts to over 11.8 million mobile subscribers, advising them to fully charge devices, prepare essential supplies, and stay sheltered during the storm. It also reached out to 2.46 million fixed broadband users across 10 provinces and cities, warning them of potential lightning damage to electronic devices and advising them to disconnect power during thunderstorms.
Depending on local conditions, Viettel will continue to provide support, including communications packages and free charging stations.
