Viettel Football Club advances to V-League1 2019
PANO – The Viettel Football Club under the auspices of the Military-Run Telecommunication and Industry Group (Viettel) will play in the Vietnamese National Football First League (V-League1) next season.
On September 29, the club played the Binh Phuoc Football Club in the 17th round of the 2018 Vietnamese National Football Second League (V-League2) at Hang Day Stadium.
In a good spirit thanks to their third consecutive win, the Viettel team quickly gained the initiative in the game, and created a number of good opportunities.
However, they could not snatch the opportunities until the 76th minute of the match when captain Bui Tien Dung scored a goal, taking the Viettel in the lead.
Viettel players became more confident after the goal and played better; as a result, Hoang Duong netted another goal 5 minutes later. The Viettel took the lead over the Binh Phuoc by two to nil till the end of the match.
With this win, the club had 38 points on the table, which allowed it to finish the season at the top of the V-League2 2018 before the final round, and to advance to V-League1 next season.
Reportedly, the Viettel Football Club will change its name into the The Cong Club (the famous name of the military football team in the past) in the next season when playing at V-league1 2019.
