The project to develop a residence registration and management system in Laos is run by the Lao Ministry of Internal Affairs. The system helps competent agencies well manage various issues relating to population and all demographic areas, including residency, immigration and migration, marital status, gender and so one.
Earlier, Unitel in cooperation with Viettel Information and Communication Technology Company (VTICT) had defeated other rivals in an open bid held by the Lao Ministry of Internal Affairs to be the project entrepreneur.
Under the schedule, Unitel is to implement phase 1 of the project in the three localities of Vientiane, Luangprabang and Champasack.
Meanwhile, Movitel, Viettel’s brand in Mozambique, defeated Vodacom and Mcel on February 8, 2017 to become the official partner of the National Communications Institute of Mozambique in providing public services to 100% of the country’s population. Movitel, in cooperation with local governmental agencies and nongovernmental organizations in the country, is also about to implement a project, offering 300,000 SIM cards and handsets to local people, within the framework of the cooperation between the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and the Mozambique government on agricultural information development.
