Commander of Corps 12, Major General Nguyen Huu Ngoc, gave an interview to the People’s Army Newspaper, emphasizing that in recent times, traditions have served as a solid foundation for the corps to achieve outstanding results in task performance.
Ready to go into tough places
According to Maj. Gen. Nguyen Huu Ngoc, following the traditions of Truong Son soldiers, Corps 12 has consistently demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility in every task and project across national key construction sites from the North to the South. This affirms the efforts, determination, and capabilities of the military in fulfilling its mission as a labor and production force during peacetime.

These days, in celebration of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – 2025) and the 66th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail – the founding day of Truong Son soldiers (May 19, 1959 – 2025), the corps has launched an emulation movement at all construction sites. The leadership has frequently visited these sites to encourage officers, soldiers, and workers.
One of the core strengths of military-run enterprises in general, and Corps 12 in particular, is strict discipline and a high level of determination in task execution. Management work has been consistent and well-organized. This has been clearly demonstrated in major projects led by Corps 12 in recent years. For example, the corps successfully shortened the construction schedule of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport by one year. The terminal was inaugurated last April.
Discussing the key factors behind Corps 12's success over the years, Gen. Ngoc emphasized that the projects, especially national key ones, have helped continue the proud tradition of the heroic Truong Son soldiers in the era of renewal. The corps has become one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam’s infrastructure construction sector.
In areas with difficult conditions, border regions, islands, remote areas, or urgent projects, Corps 12 has made its mark. These include resettlement projects in Nu Village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district), Nam Tong Village (Nam Luc commune), and Kho Vang Village (Coc Lau commune) in Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province. Currently, the corps is constructing the new Phong Chau Bridge in Phu Tho province.
Continuously innovating and applying digital technology
Maj. Gen. Nguyen Huu Ngoc shared that in order to succeed in national key construction projects, solidarity is the most important factor that builds collective strength and contributes to Corps 12’s achievements. For example, in the Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway project, despite the massive workload and complex geological conditions, the corps maintained a high level of determination and found technical solutions to build the road on weak soil foundations.
Projects conducted by Corps 12 have been highly praised by leaders of the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense, affirming the capability and reputation of the Truong Son brand. Under the leadership of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, and with the solidarity of all officers, soldiers, and workers, the corps is expected to continue making significant contributions to future national key projects.
Looking ahead, Corps 12 will face both opportunities and challenges. Without innovation and the ability to seize opportunities, the corps risks falling behind. Being proactive, it has invested heavily in human resources, equipment, and technological innovation. The first step is the reform of its management model.
At the same time, the corps has applied science and technology in management. All meetings are now conducted online, and equipment and supplies are tracked using GPS systems to optimize labor efficiency and ensure tight oversight. The corps has also implemented the Building Information Modeling (BIM) system in project management. Thanks to these synchronized solutions, the corps’ output has grown significantly. Five years ago, with nearly the same personnel, its output was about VND 3 trillion. Now, it has exceeded VND 20 trillion. This is strong evidence that timely innovation and the application of digital and advanced technologies have enabled Corps 12 to thrive. These are the foundations for future expansion into new fields, Maj. Gen. Nguyen Huu Ngoc emphasized.
