The event was also part of  its activities to mark the 44th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30), President Ho Chi Minh’s 129th birth anniversary, 133rd anniversary of the International Labor Day (May 1), and 90th founding anniversary of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Present at the event were Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van;  Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Tran Van Thuat, Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistics Major General Le Hong Dung, and Head of the Defense Trade Union Board Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duc.

The Workers’ Month from May 1 to 31 at Company 26 will a focus on such major contents as diversification of forms and methods of the dissemination of workers’ movements, implementation of regulations on democracy at the grassroots level at workplaces, raising workers’ responsibility and awareness of emulation programs at work, and more.

Addressing the event, General Dung affirmed that the month  was expected to cement confidence and cohesion between trade union organizations and their members and workers, enhancing the union’s position and role.

In order to successfully implement the contents and targets of the program, General Dung proposed Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels as well as trade union cadres and members and workers should further heighten their sense of responsibility and awareness of the purposes and significance of the Workers’ Month.

Military enterprises have to strictly implement production and business development plans while intensifying training for their workers. Trade union organizations at all levels of the general department should proactively innovate both contents and methods of their operations.

At the event, representatives of the Trade Union chapters of the general department signed mutual emulation agreements.

General Van then presented a VND 80-million comradeship house to Pham Van Hoa, member of the Trade Union chapter of Enterprise 26/4. On this occasion, the Defense Trade Union Board also gave gifts to 21 needy workers of Company 26.

At the end of the meeting, delegates participated in a walk to advocate the action month and visited the production and product-display areas of the companies under the General Department of Logistics.
